General Introduction
The Norse religion is believed to have come about in the 9th and 10th centuries in Northern Europe; specifically Iceland and Greenland (VisitDenmark, 2011). The Norse creation myths are preserved versions of Germanic paganism (BBC, 2014, line 3). Otherwise known as Scandinavian religions, the Nordic faith is still a major part of our society and spirituality today (Hartney, 2011, pg 408) The name Norse referred to the faith of the people and languages of the ancient Scandinavians, such as Norwegians, Swedish, Danish, Icelandic and predominantly the Vikings as well as the deities that accompany the faith.(Joe, 2006, paragraph 2). It was essentially the traditions of the people of Scandinavian countries that gave birth to this religion, which later established the foundations for many other religions, including Christianity. (Mead, J 2011paragraph 4).
